How to roll

Ingress uses the "d6 to Hit" system, created by the mods in order to add some randomization to how things happen at Ingress.

Roll a d6, the number you get means...

1- Significant Failure
2,3 - Failure
4,5 - Success
6 - Great Success

These failures and successes are relative to what you think your character can accomplish. The Hulk getting a Great Success and Frodo getting a Great Success are going to mean very different things.

You will be using this tool to resolve conflicts in three main ways:

1. Game Battles in Adventures (Required)

Whenever your character is involved with a battle on an adventure that is mod-run, you will need to roll dice to determine whether or not your character has successfully executed an action.

ex: Did the Sherlock successfully intuit who the killer is?
ex: Did Spock successfully nerve pinch the bartender?
ex: Did Natasha Romanoff successfully charm her way past the guard?

If two PCs are decide to fight each other, both players must first agree to everything that will happen to their characters. If permission is given, then characters will both roll, and whoever has the higher number wins. If both characters roll the same number, whoever is defending wins.

ex: Spock wants to nerve pinch Jim
First, the Jim-mun gives the Spock-mun permission for this to happen. Then:
If Spock rolls a 5 to nerve pinch, and Jim rolls a 4 to defend, Spock wins.
If Spock rolls a 5 to nerve pinch, and Jim rolls a 5 to defend, Jim gets away.

2. Character Challenges (Optional)
When your character isn't participating in a mod-run battle, feel free to use this system to figure out whether or not your character is successful at any given task. This is totally optional on your part.

• Please post your app to your character journal and link to your application in the comments. In your subject line, please note your character name, fandom, and if there's any kind of AU.
• There is only one application regardless of whether your character is Canon or an OC.

Apps open on the 5th of every month and close on the 25th. After each app round, we will clean out the apps in the comment section.

What role does your character typically take in a group? 2.) What motivates your character? 3.) What are the largest issues your character has to face at this time? We're looking for your ideas on character growth or stagnation, what makes this character worth exploring to you. <b>Character’s Door and game specific goals:</b> <i>We need some acknowledgement that you understand your character entered this world willingly.</i> And tell us why the Door to Averde has appeared for your character. What is going on in their lives, what do they need to figure out or make a decision about in order to get home? (This should tie into the character’s issues.) <b>What are the win conditions for your character?</b> In order for their door to return, they must complete some kind of personal quest. Making 10 new friends, or shutting the door in someone’s face five times, or stomping on 75 yellow peeps. A specific goal that somehow ties into your character’s reasons for being in Averde. This can be as big and impossible, or as simple and achievable as you want. Completing the goals are the <i>only</i> way that a character's door home will return, so keep that in mind. <b>And Finally, examples:</b> One First Person example: A conversation, a monologue, anything that will give us an idea of the voice of your character. (for the eventual network that is not currently open) One Prose example: (a sample of your writing style for this character) One Action example: (a sample of using the <a href="http://ingress.dreamwidth.org/4899.html">dice roll mechanics</a> to resolve an action) <b>Playtest History</b> (optional) **<i>characters that have participated in a playtest entrance are allowed to link that as a sample, please specify if you intend for it to be the character's actual entrance to the game. which is fully allowed.</i> **<i>playtested characters may also start fresh with a new entrance; however, their previous incarnation will be assumed to have died during the timeline of playtest.</i>
